A recent conversation revealed to me how effectively the 'No' campaign is perpetuating its fear-mongering and misinformation surrounding the Voice. Before this, I was naïve to the idea that ordinary Australians could disagree with the notion that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people deserve to have their voices heard.
As the ongoing custodians of the land, it should be apparent that Indigenous Australians have the right to self-determination with the guarantee that it cannot be taken away.
It is undeniable that this campaign has and will take on the mental and physical health of First Nations peoples so it is imperative that non-Indigenous people listen and provide support throughout this process and beyond, and of course: vote yes!
